TREATMENT APPROACH

I am a depth-oriented psychotherapist. My work is influenced by psychodynamic, Gestalt, narrative, and Jungian theory, among others. I am also a shamanic practitioner, educator, and woman of color. Maintaining a holistic, spiritual, and creative perspective in my work, I strive to assist you in living your most authentic and aligned life story. Psychodynamic Psychotherapy ~
Examining the patterns imprinted upon us by our families of origin can provide insight into our behaviors as adults, navigating the world. Unwinding these patterns and unearthing the relationship dynamics of our early family experiences can facilitate your journey towards creating newer, healthier relationship patterns today.
 

Depth Hypnosis ~
Using guided imagery, regression techniques, and subconscious suggestion while in a light trance, we unwind, rewire, and transform the internal messages and negative belief systems that are no longer working for you. Effective for working through addictions, phobias, negative beliefs, creative blocks, and habits. Many will begin to see changes within 3-6 sessions. A series of 10-15 sessions is often needed to transform chronic, stuck issues.
 

Expressive Arts Therapy and Dreamwork ~
When resistance is present, and traditional talk therapy doesn’t seem to be getting to the heart of the matter, using the expressive arts often bypasses our defenses and drops us down into internal truth with efficient clarity. Art-making, authentic movement, symbolic imagery, writing, dreamwork, and other tools are used to drop into the unconscious and bring up the important gems needed for transformation.
 

Narrative Therapy ~
Are you living your best and most aligned life story? Narrative Therapy sidesteps “problem-saturated-talk” and instead moves clients into the realms of personal intention, imagination, and choice. Who are you? What are you about? Who are the characters in your life story and what role(s) do they play? This therapeutic modality allows you to take back your power and remember that you are the author of your personal life story.
 

Shamanic Counseling Work ~
Significant power loss can occur in one’s life. I offer this modality for clients interested in using shamanic journeying practices and regression work to access their internal guidance systems, retrieve their siphoned-off inner power, and move towards embodying and living life in true and authentic fullness.

Transpersonal Inquiry ~
We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. When spiritual crisis creates conflict and confusion about next steps in life, dropping into transpersonal inquiry and becoming fully and deeply present with What Is, and What is True for You, may be what generates inner transformation, healing, and growth.
 

Other therapy modalities I use include: Solution-Focused and Strengths-Based Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Systems Approach, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). These modalities tend to be goal-oriented, practice-based therapies that can be very effective for managing your life. I use them during treatment intervals when life needs to be managed functionally, rather than excavated and healed deeply.
